Fun w Graphic 45: 6×6 Chunky Trifold Folio Tutorial ~ Now Available!

Hello Happy Crafters!

I am super-excited to share with you the next Fun with Graphic 45 project using Graphic 45’s Raining Cats & Dogs collection. I LOVE this collection and was so happy they re-released it so we could play with it again. This is a brand new foundation, too and I hope you love it as much as I do.  This is my Chunky 6×6 Trifold Folio!

Read on for all the details on the project, and where you can pick up the tutorial. The full video walk-through of the completed sample is below as well!

As you all know, I love folios of all kinds, but most of the chipboard ones I see are big, with narrow spines. I love them, too (see all of my File Folder Folios!) but I also wanted something chunkier that I could stuff more into it. At the same time, I wanted to keep it easy to hold and handle. From the outside, this looks like a regular 6×6 mini, but it’s actually a tri-fold folio! (And look at the width of that spine! I’ve packed a LOT of potential in this little folio!)

And I make full use of all four panels. Yes, four! Because when you open the cover, you are looking at the front of the closed third panel…so I made some extra room in that chunky spine so we could do something interactive on both sides of that panel.

Slide out the folder and tag from the pocket (and there is room more tags if you want!) Then there is a surprise behind them!

The whole unit opens up to provide more room for photos and journaling. No magnet needed for this interactive unit as tucking the folder and tag in the front pocket keeps it all closed up. A fun closure idea for any mini!

Then you open that panel and voila! Here is your tri-fold folio with interactive fun PACKED on all three panels.

The first panel on the left end is a nice, wide platform waterfall, with the flaps as wide as the panel itself. There are five waterfall flaps in this section. Plenty of room to tuck in lots of photos, add plenty of journaling if needed, then the whole unit is kept closed and neat and tidy with the cover flap and magnet card closure.

I just love the colors of this collection, too! Graphic 45 did a great job in giving plenty of dog and cat items to use. I designed this so it’s about 50/50 dog and cat, but there are leftover cut aparts and chipboard pieces, so you can easily adjust to your needs.

The center panel is an expandable three-pocket file filled with SO many tags and folders in a wide variety of styles and sizes.

Think of it as a little mini file cabinet filled with goodies!

These three pockets hold so much! And there are more tucked behind the ones still in the pocket! (Those are just from those three pockets!)

Lots of folders to go with the tags for this center section. More room for photos!

I added fun elements to the inside of all the folders in this project. These are just the ones for the expandable pockets!

The final panel (the back side of the one you see when you first open the folio) is a deep pocket with fun goodies tucked inside!

You have a cute little folder, then a brand-new Pocket Folio! (I couldn’t resist!) This is a fun tri-fold folio all by itself. Complete with a pocket inside that has – YES – another fun wee folder.

You’ve got Wee Things & a Pocket Folio all in one project. HA!

The album foundation is built so there is an equal space between the layers when the book is closed. PLENTY of room to add in all the goodies, plus all your photos.

  1. Hi Donna
How much is the kit for the raining cats and dogs trifold folio? I know what the tutorial download is but I was curious about the kids that you put together with all the papers and everything coat.
    Thank you very much

  2. Hi Ronna! Thanks so much for your interest in my kits. The kits for this project have sold out, but the general range for my full product kits is $55 to $75. All the mats come precut and stacked in the order of use, as well. If you’re interested in the chance to snag a kit when they are announced, email me at donna@minibooksrme.com and ask to subscribe to the newsletter list. I don’t put kits up in my Etsy shop – they sell out too quickly – so the only way to snag one is via the newsletter. No obligation to buy anything by subscribing. And you get to hear about all the new projects first. 🙂 Thanks again!
